Easy DIY Wall Art for the Superhero Fan in Your LIfe! Comic Book Canvas, Gallery Wall, & Decoration! Plus the Happiness is Homemade Linky Party!

When my husband and I discovered a giant stack of his childhood comic books at his mom's house a while back, we knew we had to do something fun with them!  We went a simple route, and produced some pretty awesome superhero wall hangings, if I do say so myself...  It is incredibly easy, but here is the process broken down in steps if you want it.  If not, just skip on down to the Happiness is Homemade linky par-tay!  ;)

Step 1:  We picked up some cheap frames at Hobby Lobby, but Amazon or Ikea have lots of affordable options too... You could also use canvases in this project - in which case you might want to pre-paint the backgrounds in different colors of your choice.

Step 2:  Pick comic book pages that hold significance for the superhero fan, or just look awesome.

Step 3:  Cut them out along the comic "frame" if it is the right size, or just size it to suit your preference.  If any elements of the illustration are drawn over the edge of the comic boarder, be sure not to lop them off!

Step 4:  Position the cut-outs within the frame, using black poster board and acid free tape to "matte" them if needed.

Step 5:  Hang, gallery-wall style, either just all together or interspersed with other printables and illustrations.

Note / disclaimer - clearly the comics you would choose would be age-appropriate... these images aren't necessarily ones I would pick for a kid's wall. The project is completely adaptable that way!

Not only do these look cool, they also get bonus points for reducing / reusing / recycling!  They are perfect for a kid or teenager's room, a game room, or heck, just hung on the wall over your dining room table... which is where we displayed ours for the first few years of our marriage.  We're awesome like that!  ;P

Now time for the party!!

    Have a fabulous day. ☺

  2. Oh, Sarah Eliza, here you are tempting me with another par-tay! And I can't get to Friday Frivolity half the time! Eek!

  3. I love the idea of using comic books as wall art!! :)

  4. These look great! My OH is really into comics and has a few prints up - he's always trying for more though! :) #fridayfrivolity

  5. I've totally framed all sorts of things like this as "art," too! My favorite was a magazine picture of a glowing lightbulb, just because I thought it looked cool in my celestial-themed bathroom... :D

  6. What a fun idea! These would make great decor for a child's room. Or anyone who loves comics! Thanks for sharing at the Blogger's Pit Stop.
