#FridayFrivolity Wishlist of a Book Worm -- Reading Recommendations!

The Wishlist of a Book Worm...

Wishlist of a bookworm -- good books to read, self-help, parenting, sci-fi, suspense, and fantasy. Reviews of Marissa Meyer Cress, Charlotte Williams House on the Cliff, Danish Way of Parenting, Fellside, Brain Fog Fix, via Devastate Boredom

My pal Audrey over at Munofore picked our theme for tonight's #FridayFrivolity, and I have to admit it caused me a little angst!  I have the same angst every time somebody asks me what my favorite book is... so many books... how am I ever to choose just ONE?

So yea, please don't ever ask me what my favorite book is.  I will probably involuntarily roll my eyes at you, and then feel bad about it later.

However, my current Book Worm Wishlist is pretty easy to pinpoint, because in the end I just decided to share what I have on hold at the library.  ;)  So here goes:

Fellside -- I recently read this author's oh-so-creepy and satisfying The Girl With All the Gifts, so I'm psyched to read another by him.  This title seems to be about a haunted prison... CAN'T WAIT!

The Danish Way of Parenting -- I previously reviewed Bringing Up Bebe, which discussed French parenting habits and the ways in which they might (or might not) be superior to standard American parenting... However, emphasizing play, authenticity, and empathy, the Danish tradition sounds even more my style!  I'm really looking forward to reading this one too.

The House on the Cliff -- I accidentally read the sequel to this book first (review of Dark Tower here!) and thought it was awesomely suspenseful and intelligent, so this one is on my list for soon too!  After doing a lot of "purposeful" / educational reading lately, I'm dying to dive back into some good fiction...

Cress -- This is the third book in a series, so check out my review of the first one, Cinder, here.  Mixing fairy tale and science fiction, this series is the equivalent of tasty mental junk-food.  Perfect easy reading over the holidays!

The Brain Fog Fix: Reclaim Your Focus, Memory, and Joy in Just Three Weeks -- This one I just stumbled across randomly, but it sounds like a great one for re-centering on some goals going into the new year!  I have to admit that the sub-title sounds COMPLETELY unlikely, but hey, it had good reviews on Amazon so I'm still expecting good things here.

Got any good recommendations for me??  I'm feelin' fiction at the moment, but clearly I'm always up for some good self-help inspiration as well.... I've pretty much dusted off the books by my favorite comedic writers (Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Mindy Kaling... though I think there is still one by David Sedaris I haven't read yet... something about Owls?) so if you have one to recommend in that genre I especially want to hear about it.  Bring forth the funny!  ;)

OH and don't forget to stop by the other #FridayFrivolity hosts to check out their wishlist recommendations as well!!  There's bound to be some AWESOME ones.

Here are some of the places you might see this post partying!

Like what you're reading? Subscribe via email, and I'll keep the good stuff coming!

  1. Okay, first, I am SO glad you've emerged from your Nanowrimo cave - I've missed you around here! Second, I'm rushing to stick that Danish book on hold right away (and that fairy tale one sounds intriguing, but I can't add anything to my fiction stack right now). Third, I'm guessing you've got the book images on here, too? Can you see them, because I can't and that's been happening on my blog, too, so I'm wondering if it's a Blogger thing... #FridayFrivolity

  2. I really enjoyed Cress and the other books in the series - but I enjoyed Sarah Maas and her Throne of Glass series even more. A really enjoyable read if you like Fantasy novels (I love them!)

  3. Oh my reading list is long, I have like 10 books on my iPad, but please , tell me, how do I find the time? It's crushing not to read regularly! HELP ME! #FridayFrivolity

  4. Argh! I commented, then hit signout accidentally!
Anyway, Thanks for the recs, Sarah Eliza. I'm intrigued by the Danish parenting one.
I hope I have time to come back to the linky later!

  5. From one book worm to another thank you. I'm always looking for new books to devour, especially this time of the year. Me thinks Fellside will be on top of the list, I loved Lucifer and Hellblazer. Have you read them?

  6. Ooh, I really like the sound of The House of Cliff. My reading list is so out of hand at the moment, but I can't quit adding to it!

I love to connect with new friends online! Please share your thoughts with me! :)
